Deebo Samuel appears to have avoided a major injury in the San Francisco 49ers’ win over the Green Bay Packers on Saturday, but the star wide receiver’s status for the NFC Championship Game is in question.
Samuel hurt his left shoulder early in the first half of San Francisco’s Divisional Round playoff game against the Packers. He was seen headed to the locker room and later returned in street clothes.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Samuel underwent “a battery of tests” on Monday. The tests did not reveal a fracture, which was the biggest concern. Samuel had a hairline fracture in the same shoulder earlier in the season and missed two games.

So where does that leave Samuel for next Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the Detroit Lions? ESPN’s Adam Schefter says the 49ers view Samuel as having a 50-50 chance to play.

Samuel is a huge part of San Francisco’s offense. He caught 60 passes for 892 yards and 7 touchdowns during the regular season. He also had 225 yards rushing and 5 scores on the ground.
The 49ers would love to have all of their top playmakers available in what could be a potential shootout against Detroit, but Samuel will probably have to take things day by day.
