Demaryius Thomas responds to Josh Norman’s Super Bowl criticism

As we know, Josh Norman is not shy about expressing his feelings on a subject. When speaking about this year’s Super Bowl against the Broncos, Norman was critical of Demaryius Thomas. The Denver wide receiver issued a response on Tuesday.

In a feature for ESPN, Norman talked about his matchup against Thomas in Super Bowl 50 and how effective he was in limiting the impact of the three-time Pro Bowler.

“I don’t know what he was out there for,” Norman told ESPN. “He was supposed to be an all-world guy, and I shut him down.”

Thomas had just one catch in the game for eight yards on a play that did not come with Norman covering him. So, from that standpoint, I guess Norman did “shut him down.” However, the Broncos were ultimately victorious and Thomas took the opportunity to remind Norman by posting a photo of his championship ring on Twitter and asking the now Redskins cornerback where his is.

There aren’t many better ways to respond to a critic than to break out the championship ring. On the other hand, it’s unlikely something like this would curtail Norman’s trash talking, no matter how mic dropping in nature it is.

Thankfully, we don’t have long to wait to see how Thomas responds on the playing field as the Broncos and Panthers square off against each other in the season opener for both teams on September 8. Not that a rematch of the Super Bowl needs another story line, but it now has one.
