Details of Tom Brady’s contract extension revealed
Tom Brady and the New England Patriots have agreed to a new contract, and the six-time Super Bowl champion is finally creeping up the salary rankings at his position.
Brady will sign a two-year extension with the Patriots that raises his salary from $15 million to $23 million in 2019, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. That makes the 42-year-old the sixth highest-paid quarterback in the NFL.
The #Patriots and QB Tom Brady have agreed to terms on a contract extension, source said. No details yet, but sounds like it’s a short term deal, as you’d expect.

With the extension, Brady is now under contract with the Patriots through 2021. However, Schefter notes that the terms of the deal will continue to be adjusted depending upon how long Brady wants to keep playing.
Tom Brady’s two-year extension takes him through the 2021 season, but the deal will be adjusted each year he continues playing, per source. It will pay him $23 million this season – an $8 million boost over what he was scheduled to make.

Basically, everybody wins. Brady was originally set to count $27 million against the salary cap in 2019, but the Patriots will likely spread that money out with his new deal to lower the cap hit. Brady also gets more money in the short term. While Brady tried to play coy about his contract situation recently, it was obvious the two sides were going to work something out before Week 1. They always do, and it always seems to benefit the team.
