Earl Thomas takes shot at Patriots for inability to stop Derrick Henry

Earl Thomas

Derrick Henry ran wild on the New England Patriots last weekend, and Earl Thomas isn’t letting them hear the end of it.

Addressing reporters on Tuesday before Saturday’s game against Henry and the Tennessee Titans, the Baltimore Ravens safety clowned the Patriots for their inability to stop the All-Pro running back in the Wild Card game.

“Those guys didn’t seem too interested in tackling him,” said Thomas, per Kimberley A. Martin of Yahoo! Sports. “I think our mindset is a little different. We’re gonna try and tackle him, try to swarm, and see how it plays out.”

Henry gashed the defending champs for 182 rushing yards and a touchdown on 34 attempts. That made all the difference in a 20-13 affair where the Titans recorded just 71 yards passing.

Of course, the 26-year-old Henry led the entire NFL with 1,540 yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground during the season, so stopping him was definitely not a problem unique to the Patriots. Thus, the Ravens will have their work cut out for them if they want to make good on Thomas’ previous guarantee.
