Eric Decker says shoulder injury rehab will be 6-8 months

Eric Decker

Eric Decker is out for the season after opting to have surgery on his torn rotator cuff. The New York Jets wide receiver was placed on injured reserve by the team, and he is looking at a fairly lengthy rehab.

Decker said in a radio interview with “The Hahn & Humpty Show” on ESPN New York that his rehab will likely be 6-8 months.

“It’s not a fun time, but obviously it’s something that needs to be done to continue my career,” Decker said of the rehab, via ESPN’s Rich Cimini. Decker also apparently described the pain from the torn rotator cuff as being like “someone is stabbing you.”

Decker says the decision for surgery was made after he missed two weeks and the shoulder did not improve. He had nine catches for 194 yards and two touchdowns in three games this season. He had 17 touchdowns in the two previous seasons with the Jets.
