One of the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl champions has spoken out about Donald Trump’s controversial decision.
Torrey Smith, who was a wide receiver on the Eagles team that won the Super Bowl last season, addressed Trump’s announcement that the Eagles’ Tuesday visit to the White House has been cancelled.
Smith, who is now with the Carolina Panthers, says not many Eagles were going to attend and that nobody refused to attend over the anthem controversy.
So many lies smh
Here are some facts
1. Not many people were going to go
2. No one refused to go simply because Trump “insists” folks stand for the anthem
3. The President continues to spread the false narrative that players are anti military pic.twitter.com/89GUNhJ4eE— Torrey Smith (@TorreySmithWR) June 4, 2018
Smith also called Trump’s cancellation a “cowardly act.”
There are a lot of people on the team that have plenty of different views. The men and women that wanted to go should’ve been able to go. It’s a cowardly act to cancel the celebration because the majority of the people don’t want to see you. To make it about the anthem is foolish

Trump’s decision to cancel the visit seemed to be one to save face. A report says fewer than 10 Eagles players were going to attend, so the president likely wanted to avoid the embarrassment of having such a small crowd that would have surely led to mocking.
