Report reveals extent of Jayden Daniels’ rib injury
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a rib injury during Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers, and his status for Week 8 is now in question.
Commanders head coach Dan Quinn told reporters on Monday that he is “hopeful” Daniels will be able to play when Washington hosts the Chicago Bears in Week 8. Quinn said the team is going to be cautious, however.
“We’re hopeful he can play, but we’ll also make sure to take every precautionary step and do it smartly for the player and the man,” Quinn said.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the rib injury is not considered serious but will require treatment throughout the week.

Daniels appeared to hurt his ribs when he ripped off a huge run on Washington’s first play from scrimmage in their 40-7 win over the Panthers. The rookie grabbed at his midsection as he got to his feet and later headed into the locker room.
Daniels was eventually ruled out and returned to the sideline without a uniform on, though he appeared to be in good spirits. The Commanders were in complete control of the game at the time, so there’s a good chance Daniels would not have come back in even if he were cleared to play.
The Commanders improved to 5-2 with their win over Carolina. They have been one of the biggest surprises in the NFL this season, and Daniels’ outstanding play is the main reason for that.
If Daniels cannot play in Week 8, fans will be disappointed to miss out an opportunity to see the former LSU star go head-to-head with fellow rookie quarterback Caleb Williams.
