Falcons acquire WR in trade with Rams
The Atlanta Falcons have acquired a wide receiver in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams.
The Falcons and Rams on Tuesday agreed to swap late-round 2025 draft picks in a deal that will send Van Jefferson to Atlanta, according to multiple reports.
Jefferson caught 50 passes for 802 and 6 touchdowns in 2021 and was the clear No. 2 receiver in the Rams’ offense behind Cooper Kupp. He then had just 24 catches in 11 games last season, even with Kupp sitting out almost half the year.
Jefferson saw his role reduced even more this season with the emergence of rookie standout Puka Nacua, who has become one of Matthew Stafford’s favorite targets. Kupp also returned on Sunday from an injury that held him out for four games, which left even fewer targets for Jefferson.
Atlanta gave up very little for Jefferson. If the 27-year-old can resemble the player he was two seasons ago, he should provide Desmond Ridder and company with a nice boost on offense.
