Greg Hardy would be interested in playing in XFL
Greg Hardy understands that his NFL career is likely over, which is why he is focusing all of his time on mixed martial arts and aspiring to climb up the ranks in the sport. But if another professional football league was launched, would he consider strapping on the pads again?
In an interview with TMZ this week, Hardy was asked about the rumors that Vince McMahon could be bringing back the XFL. If that ends up happening, the former Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers defensive end wants in.
“I’m an entertainer and I love the game of football,” Hardy said. “There’s nothing in the world like football fans — for drama, support, anything you need in life. There’s nothing like football fans. If I got paid, I would probably be there. … I would love to be a part of that, I’m not gonna lie.”
Hardy is 2-0 in his MMA career, and he knocked out his opponent in 32 seconds in his first fight. His ultimate goal is to fight in the UFC and compete for the heavyweight title, but that seems like a long shot. If the XFL started back up and teams were willing to have him, Hardy would clearly consider it.
Once one of the best pass-rushers in football, Hardy’s career went into a tailspin after disturbing details of his domestic violence case went public. His agent claimed during the offseason that multiple teams were interested in the 29-year-old, but that was likely just an attempt at boosting Hardy’s value.
