Report: Jaguars to explore trading Jalen Ramsey after season

Jalen Ramsey

Jalen Ramsey is one of the biggest reasons the Jaguars have had a dominant defense in recent seasons, but could the star cornerback be on his way out in Jacksonville?

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Sunday that the Jaguars will explore the possibility of trading Ramsey this offseason, with one league source telling Schefter he “absolutely” believes Ramsey will be shopped.

The Jaguars have fallen to 3-6 after getting off to a 3-1 start, and Ramsey sent a cryptic tweet last week that led many to believe he was thinking about life after Jacksonville.

The Pro Bowler later said the tweet was directed at “fake fans” who are jumping off the bandwagon now that the Jags are struggling, but Schefter reports that team officials have started paying closer attention to his headline-grabbing antics.

Ramsey is under team control through 2020, and he’s going to command top dollar when he becomes a free agent. Should the Jaguars decide they are tired of the way he bashes other players and has a tendency to create distractions, trading him while they can get a massive return might make sense. If the Oakland Raiders got multiple first-round picks for Khalil Mack, Jacksonville would be able to get a substantial package for Ramsey.
