Jets’ Jamal Adams appears to have actually injured Patriots mascot
New York Jets safety Jamal Adams was trying to have some fun with the mascot of a rival team at the Pro Bowl on Wednesday, but there were apparently some unfortunate consequences.
Adams was signing autographs during the Pro Bowl Skills Challenge when he noticed New England Patriots Mascot “Pat Patriot” strutting around. He then stopped what he was doing and said, “I’m gonna go knock this mascot out.”

It didn’t seem at first like anyone was seriously injured, but Adams told reporters on Thursday that he was informed the person wearing the mascot costume had to be taken to the hospital. While the NFL has not confirmed any details, Adams said the league is not pleased with him.
“He was running around and everybody was booing him, so I said, ‘You know what? Let me go tackle him,’ Adams said, via ESPN’s Michael DiRocco. “I didn’t hit him that hard, man. All jokes aside, I didn’t hit him that hard. I don’t know what’s really going on, but they did tell me he’s in the hospital. My intention was never to hurt him. it was all about just a joke but I definitely want to check on him and make sure everything is good. At the end of the day we were out here just having fun and it wasn’t nothing intentionally to try to hurt the guy.”
Many people thought the stunt was planned ahead of time, but apparently that was not the case.
Adams is a competitive guy who has been very outspoken about the culture surrounding the Jets, so it’s no surprise he wanted to send the team’s biggest rival a message. As it turns out, he may have taken things a bit too far.
