A female fan who brought a poster to the New York Jets’ Monday night game against Cleveland and claimed to have given Sam Darnold mono was just joking, as you would suspect.
The fan was wearing a Darnold jersey and had kissing lip prints on her poster, which said “I gave Darnold mono.”

Is this a woman with whom Darnold has had a previous relationship? The Jets quarterback says no and that he’s “never” seen her before.

Darnold doesn’t know how he got mono, but the issue will keep him out for a few more weeks. He is not playing due to his enlarged spleen but is targeting a Week 5 return.
