Report: Jets worry Kirk Cousins is poised to join Vikings
The New York Jets are ready to give quarterback Kirk Cousins something akin to a blank check, but they reportedly fear that even that may not be enough to convince him to sign on the dotted line.
According to Ralph Vacchiano of SNY, the Jets feel they can make the best financial offer of any of Cousins’s free agent suitors. However, they fear that there is little they can do to dissuade Cousins from joining the Minnesota Vikings when the time does come.
A Jets source told Vacchiano that the team is already preparing backup plans because they fear that Cousins will be attracted to Minnesota, which would offer him the best chance of any interested team to contend for a championship right away.
The interest between Cousins and the Vikings has been described as “mutual.” If the quarterback’s first priority above all else is winning as quickly as possible, Minnesota likely represents his best option.
