Jim Caldwell took a season off after being fired as the head coach of the Detroit Lions last year, and he is reportedly looking to get back into the league this offseason.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Caldwell wants to return to coaching in 2019 and is expected to receive consideration from some teams as a head coaching candidate.
Caldwell finished with a record of 36-28 with the Lions, bringing the team to the playoffs twice in four seasons. They did not win a game either time. He was also the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts from 2009-2011, where Peyton Manning helped lead the team to a Super Bowl in 2009.
It looked like the Lions may have made a mistake firing Caldwell with the way their 2018 season began, and things have not gotten a whole lot better since. They are 5-9 heading into Week 16 after going 9-7 under Caldwell last season.
