Report: JJ Watt, DeShaun Watson expected to be cleared for training camp
The Houston Texans were dealt a pair of major blows last season when their most important offensive and defensive players suffered season-ending injuries, but it sounds like they are on pace for a fresh start in 2018.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that neither Deshaun Watson nor J.J. Watt is expected to begin training camp on the physically unable to perform list.
Good news for the #Texans: Stars Deshaun Watson (ACL) and JJ Watt (tibial plateau fracture) are progressing so well that, at this point, neither are expected to start training camp on the PUP list, I’m told. After a rough 2017 injury-wise, Houston will begin 2018 healthy.

Watt underwent surgery last October after he suffered a fracture in his leg, and Watson had surgery to repair a torn ACL in November. While the former has dealt with several major injuries in recent seasons and may never be as dominant as he once was, the latter is said to be way ahead of schedule in his recovery.
Texans head coach Bill O’Brien recently indicated he has big plans for Watson in his second NFL season, so the positive reports about the former Clemson star’s health are a great sign. It goes without saying that Houston is an infinitely better team with both Watson and Watt on the field.
