Johnny Manziel says he’s ‘night and day’ different from his rookie season

Johnny Manziel believes he’s made significant progress from where he was as a rookie.

The second year quarterback believes that a full offseason and game experience has helped him vastly improve.

“It’s night and day,” said Manziel of the contrast between his rookie and sophomore campaigns, via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “It’s not even close. Just being able to see the field, protections, progressions, everything. Going out and playing these past couple of weeks has shown that a little bit. It’s a world of difference throwing for 70 yards an entire game like what happened last year against Cincinnati and just that whole debacle.

“Having a full offseason with the knowledge that I had last year and just knowing how to come in the building and do the right things and prepare. That’s the biggest thing.”

Manziel credited fellow quarterbacks Josh McCown and Austin Davis with helping his development.

“When we come in here on Tuesdays, we like being here, we like breaking down the film, we like sitting in here and game planning with each other,” Manziel said. “It’s just a collective of everything, being a year wiser, having the room that we have and then finally getting a chance to be out there for a decent amount to have things slow down, and it really is nice. So, yeah, it’s a world of difference.”

The Browns haven’t been winning games, but Manziel has been decent since claiming the starting role. It still remains to be seen if he’s shown the Browns enough to convince them that he can be a part of their future, however.
