Report: Johnny Manziel was ‘too controversial’ for ‘Dancing With the Stars’
Johnny Manziel was in consideration to appear on the upcoming season of “Dancing With the Stars,” but he was dropped at the last second due to concerns, according to a report.
The Blast says Manziel had been informally chosen to appear on the show after being in talks with the ABC program for weeks. The Blast says Manziel was later deemed “too controversial” for the program, which pairs amateur dancers with professionals in an ongoing reality TV dance competition.
Manziel has a history of controversy. He was arrested in college before he became a star player, he was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, he has been to rehab for substance abuse problems, and he has been dropped by both an agent and the Cleveland Browns for his mounting problems.
Manziel is trying to make a comeback and clean up his image. He admitted to past alcohol abuse and having a psychological disorder. He got married and is essentially begging for another shot in the NFL. He is now playing in a spring football league.
Spending his time training and playing football rather than dancing seems like a much better way for Manziel to try and revitalize his career.
