Julian Edelman says Tom Brady yells at him out of love
It’s no secret that Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman is one of Tom Brady’s favorite teammates. That doesn’t mean, however, that Edelman is exempt from Brady’s wrath.
In fact, it means Edelman gets it even more than some others.
Cameras caught an agitated Brady flinging a towel and then having an animated discussion with Edelman after the wide receiver appeared to stop his route on a deep ball attempt. Don’t read anything into it, according to Edelman.
“I know how he is,” Edelman told WEEI, via Mike Reiss of ESPN. “I’d be a little more scared if he wasn’t yelling at me, because if he yells at you, he says he loves you.
“He must really love me, I guess.”
In fact, Edelman is happy to take the brunt of Brady’s anger if it helps him.
“I let him take his steam off,” Edelman said. “I’ll be that punching bag, as long as it makes him feel good. It’s a relationship. It’s give and take.”
Let us never question how tight these two are. Emotions run high in moments like that, particularly for competitors like Brady. He and Edelman are definitely on good terms.
