Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson is a firm believer in Shedeur Sanders, and thinks one rival team in particular made a big mistake passing on the quarterback.
Jefferson attended the Miami Grand Prix over the weekend and spoke to Bleacher Report during the event. The Vikings wide receiver was asked about Sanders’ fall to the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round of the NFL Draft and expressed surprise, questioning why the New York Giants were not more aggressive in taking him.
“I think it’s crazy that he dropped that far in the draft,” Jefferson said. “I definitely don’t think he should have dropped that far, just watching him the previous seasons and seeing the different things that he did at Colorado. I definitely thought that he should have been drafted in that first, second round.
“New York doesn’t really have a quarterback. Steelers. Cleveland definitely does need a quarterback also.”

The New York Giants do have two quarterbacks in Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, though neither is a long-term solution. Perhaps that is what Jefferson is alluding to, or maybe he does not think much of Wilson. Regardless, New York did trade back into the first round to land Jaxson Dart with Sanders still on the board.
Reports indicate that Sanders’ NFL Draft fall had more to do with off-field concerns in the pre-draft process than anything he did on the field, though he also was not viewed as an elite talent by NFL evaluators. Jefferson clearly believes several teams made a mistake in that assessment. Only time will tell if he is correct.
