Justin Pugh says he was ‘misinformed’ when he supported Josh Brown
When the NFL announced over the summer that Josh Brown would be suspended one game due to a domestic violence charge that was later dropped, several of the kicker’s New York Giants teammates supported him publicly. At least one of them is now backtracking.
On Friday, Giants offensive lineman Justin Pugh said he was “misinformed” when he made comments about Brown’s situation back in August.

Pugh had previously said that it is important for Brown’s teammates to support him while he goes through a “tough thing.”
“Obviously, it’s a sad situation he’s been going through, and obviously, you have to be there for your team teammate,” Pugh said in August. “It’s definitely something that is tough. I don’t want to get too into it because I don’t know all the details either. So that is something that — I know Josh has spoken with everybody and settled that — but all we can do is support our teammate and make sure we’re there for him. It’s definitely a tough thing to go through.”
Speaking about a topic before you know all the facts is always dangerous, and many people are learning that the hard way in the wake of the latest information that surfaced about Brown. For whatever reason, the Giants refuse to completely distance themselves from Brown despite disturbing letters and journal entries in which Brown admits to abusing his ex-wife.
Even Giants coach Ben McAdoo said on Friday that the team will not turn its back on Brown. Those who feel inclined to speak on the matter should learn something from Pugh’s approach.
