Ben McAdoo: Giants won’t ‘turn our back’ on Josh Brown

Josh Brown Giants

The New York Giants continue to stop short of saying the right things when it comes to the latest domestic violence revelations about kicker Josh Brown.

At his press conference on Friday morning, Giants head coach Ben McAdoo said the team is going to continue to support Brown despite leaving him home for this weekend’s trip to London.

“We’re not going to turn our back on Josh,” McAdoo said, per Dan Duggan of NJ.com. “He’s a teammate. He’s a guy that we’re hoping makes strides.”

McAdoo largely ignored questions about when and how much the Giants knew of Brown’s history of physically and mentally abusing his wife. He said the team is gathering information to make the “best available decision,” but there were times when he almost sounded sympathetic toward Brown.

“Josh is a man of faith,” McAdoo said. “He’s a man that has taken steps to try to improve himself. There are programs in place that the league has in place, that players can take advantage of.”

For what it’s worth, McAdoo said he does not condone domestic violence.

“I do not support domestic violence, if that’s what you’re asking,” he said. “I don’t condone that.”

At this point, Giants players, coaches and staff members would be better off saying nothing at all. The shocking revelations that came out earlier this week prove how despicable it is that Brown was only suspended one game. The Giants need to stop treading the line between supporting their player and condemning domestic violence. There’s no line to tread.
