Kirk Cousins has telling response to Falcons’ draft decision
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins is trying not to rock the boat regarding the team’s NFL Draft decision, but his response to a question about it Tuesday was fairly telling.
Cousins spoke to the media during OTAs on Tuesday and was asked about the team’s decision to select quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with the No. 8 pick. Cousins was specifically asked if he still would have signed with the Falcons had he known the team’s draft plans, and he offered a fairly pointed non-answer.
#Falcons QB Kirk Cousins asked if he would've signed with Atlanta if he had known they would've taken a QB with the No. 8 draft pick:
"I don't deal in hypotheticals."

“I don’t deal in hypotheticals,” Cousins responded.
Cousins may simply be telling the truth here, but it certainly feels like a carefully chosen answer. The quarterback could have dismissed the question by simply saying yes. The speculation would have continued, but that would have brought the temperature down a bit.
Penix and Cousins have gotten along fine so far, as far as we know. However, one report indicated that Cousins was trying to leave behind the exact situation he has now found himself in. It is hardly a surprise if he is not thrilled about that.
