Kyle Shanahan walks back criticism of Eagles’ security guard
San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan was not happy with the Philadelphia Eagles and team staffer Dom DiSandro over a sideline confrontation with linebacker Dre Greenlaw on Sunday. One day later, however, Shanahan had softened his tone a bit.
On Monday, Shanahan voiced his hope that DiSandro not be seriously punished for his interaction with Greenlaw, and that he had heard good things about the Eagles’ security chief.
49ers coach Kyle Shanahan took a softer stance toward Eagles security guy Dom DiSandro today, saying he’s heard DiSandro is a good guy and he hopes punishment isn’t too harsh:
“There’s nothing he did that was extraordinarily bad. He just shouldn’t be around that area.”

“There’s nothing he did that was extraordinarily bad. He just shouldn’t be around that area,” Shanahan conceded.
Shanahan was very angry about the incident after the game, but he was admittedly running on emotion and had not actually seen the play on video. While it certainly wasn’t a good look for DiSandro and the Eagles (video here), it also was not much of a fight.
The NFL is already reviewing the incident, and it remains to be seen if Greenlaw or DiSandro will face further punishment.
