The Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed that an investigation is “ongoing” into the contents of a social media post from former NFL offensive lineman Jonathan Martin’s Instagram account.
“The individual we believe responsible for the social media post in question has been detained and our investigation is ongoing,” the LAPD said in a statement, via Kyle Bonagura of ESPN.
ABC News had already confirmed that Martin was the individual in custody. It is unknown at this point if he has been charged with any crime.
Police sources also told ESPN that, while Harvard-Westlake School closed on Friday, there was “no direct threat” to the school itself.
Martin will doubtlessly be questioned as authorities try to determine whether Martin was the one who posted the image and, if so, why. Expect to hear more on this fairly soon.
