The Tennessee Titans’ first touchdown on Saturday afternoon was unconventional to say the least.
Marcus Mariota was fully responsible. The Titans quarterback was flushed out of the pocket on 3rd and goal at the six. Desperate to make something happen, he went left and tried to pass it — only to have the pass deflected right back to him by Kansas City’s Darrelle Revis. Not missing a beat, Mariota caught his own pass and took it into the end zone for six.

The reverse view is even funnier.

As this was a scoring play, it was automatically reviewed. Referees ruled that Mariota was just behind the line of scrimmage when throwing the pass, and as he started in the shotgun, he was an eligible receiver.
Mariota has a flair for the dramatic, but this was something else — and it came at a pivotal time in a big game, too.
