Mike Pouncey ‘not concerned’ about Jonathan Martin’s social media post
Jonathan Martin found his way back into the news last month when he was taken into custody over a disturbing social media post that was viewed as a threat toward some of his former teammates, but one of those teammates insists he is not worried.
Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey was asked about Martin’s Instagram story at a charity event over the weekend, and he was quick to downplay it.
“For what?” Pouncey told Hal Habib of the Palm Beach Post when asked if he felt threatened. “I’m not concerned about anybody coming looking for me.”
Pouncey knows Martin on a more personal level than most, so perhaps he has reason to not be alarmed by a photo he was tagged in that included a shotgun, shotgun shells and the caption, “When you’re a bully victim & a coward, your options are suicide, or revenge.” However, police took the post very seriously. Martin also tagged his former high school, and the school has since reportedly filed a restraining order against him. The 28-year-old was also set to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
Martin retired from the NFL in 2015. He was at the center of a bullying scandal in 2013 that led to former Dolphins offensive lineman Richie Incognito being suspended. Pouncey was also said to be involved. Soon after his retirement, Martin opened up about how he attempted to commit suicide.
