High school reportedly files for restraining order against Jonathan Martin

Jonathan Martin

Harvard-Westlake School has filed for a restraining order against Jonathan Martin following his threats made last week, according to a report.

TMZ Sports reported on Thursday that the Los Angeles school filed for a restraining order against Martin. Martin posted a photo on his Instagram account last Thursday that showed a shotgun and several bullets around it. In his post, which came a little over a week after a school shooting in Parkland, Fla., Martin mentioned four people, including two former Miami Dolphins teammates. The post also mentioned Harvard-Westlake School, which was Martin’s high school.

Martin’s post was taken by the school as a threat, and led them to shut down classes on Friday as a precaution.

The former NFL offensive lineman was detained by police and then reportedly was set to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

Martin retired from the NFL in 2015. He was at the center of a bullying scandal in 2013 that led to the suspension of one of his former teammates, Richie Incognito. Soon after his retirement, Martin opened up about suicidal thoughts he had during his career.
