Patriots’ Jabrill Peppers arrested on assault, drug charges
New England Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers is facing multiple charges after he was arrested over the weekend.
Peppers was arrested in Braintree, Mass., early Saturday morning after police responded to a disturbance, according to Marc Fortier of NBC 10 in Boston. Police received a call that there was an altercation between two people, and Peppers was arrested following an investigation.
Peppers was booked on four charges — assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, strangulation and possession of cocaine. The alleged victim in the incident was treated for injuries at the scene. No details were given about the nature of the injuries.
The Patriots issued a statement on Monday morning addressing Peppers’ arrest.
The #Patriots statement on the alleged incident over the weekend: "We are aware of an incident involving Jabrill Peppers over the weekend in which the police are currently investigating. We will have no further comment at this time."

Peppers, a team captain, was inactive for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins. He was initially listed as questionable with a shoulder injury but was downgraded to out on Saturday. It is unclear if Peppers would have played had he not gotten arrested.
The 29-year-old Peppers is in his third season with the Patriots. He has been one of the anchors of the team’s defense, which is why he was rewarded with a 3-year, $30 million contract this offseason.
