Raiders player’s old quote about Chiefs goes viral after upset win

Las Vegas Raiders defensive back Amik Robertson felt his team underachieved when they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs a month ago, and that opinion was validated on Christmas Day.

The Chiefs defeated the Raiders 31-17 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Nov. 26. After that Week 12 loss, Robertson confidently told reporters that he was disappointed because he felt the Raiders were the better team.

Some people thought the comments were a bad look from Robertson. He came away looking pretty good on Monday, however, as the Raiders got revenge and beat the Chiefs 20-14 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Robertson’s controversial take from four weeks ago then went viral.

“I know we’re better than that team.. we got more dogs.”

“We’ve lost a couple games this year, but for some reason, for me, this one just hurts because I know we better than that team. I know we got more dogs,” Robertson said last month. “I know we better than that team. … We have a lot of competitive guys. We put the work in. We know we better than that team.”

The Raiders were certainly the better team on Monday. They entered the game as more than a 7-point underdog, but they made life difficult for the Chiefs from the start. Quarterback Aidan O’Connell needed just 62 passing yards to get the win, as Las Vegas ran the ball extremely well and forced Patrick Mahomes into numerous bad throws.

For at least a day, Robertson was right that Las Vegas had more fight in them. The inspired performance may have come too late for the 7-8 Raiders, but it certainly raised plenty of questions about whether the Chiefs can successfully defend their Super Bowl title.
