Rams RB CJ Anderson has hilarious explanation for yards after contact stat
Los Angeles Rams running back CJ Anderson was thrust into a starting role on Sunday when Todd Gurley’s knee did not feel 100 percent in warmups, and the veteran embraced the opportunity by having one of the best games of his career. Better yet, he had a fantastic sense of humor about it.
Gurley has over 1,800 yards and 21 touchdowns this year and is arguably the best running back in the NFL. That’s why it was shocking that Anderson had more yards after contact on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals than Gurley had in any game of his career.
Interesting: 105 of CJ Anderson's 167 rushing yards came after contact, more than Todd Gurley has ever gained in a game and the most by a Rams rusher in the last 10 seasons, per @ESPNStatsInfo.

When Anderson caught wind of the stat, he sent a hilarious tweet trying to explain how it happened.
My boy TG the goat that happens cuz I’m slow https://t.co/3SN1CMyLne

Anderson had some productive seasons with the Denver Broncos before being released last offseason. He then spent time as a backup with the Carolina Panthers this year before landing with the Rams. Whether it was due to his lack of speed or not, his performance on Sunday was impressive. If nothing else, it allows L.A. to give stronger consideration to taking the same approach in Week 17.
