Referees overturn controversial Julian Edelman punt play, but ball don’t lie
The NFL had another huge call on their hands during a conference championship game, and once again, the home fans were left upset by the play.
The Kansas City Chiefs were punting down 17-14 in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots. Julian Edelman was back to receive and came very close to the ball, but a funny hop led it to bounce past him. The Chiefs recovered, and the call on the field was that Edelman had touched the ball, giving it to KC.

The referees reviewed the play and decided to overturn the call, saying Edelman never touched it. That appeared to be the correct call to me.
Regardless, a “ball don’t lie” situation happened next, as a Tom Brady pass went through Edelman’s hands and was intercepted by the Chiefs, who got the ball back anyhow. They ended up scoring a touchdown to take their first lead of the game.
