Rex Ryan said to be ‘pissed’ about Jets not signing a top CB
Rex Ryan is said to be “pissed” over the New York Jets’ failure to sign one of the top cornerbacks on the free agent market this offseason.
Not only was the team unable to bring back his favorite, Darrelle Revis, who signed a two-year deal with the New England Patriots, but they also lost Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to the New York Giants. They failed to sign DRC despite having him in for a visit before the Giants, which is usually all you need in order to get a deal done.
Ryan loves having top cover cornerbacks because it allows him so many more options when constructing his defense. It’s no surprise he was ticked the team didn’t sign DRC.
Check out some of the tweets sent by Jets reporter Manish Mehta about the subject.
Jets source on how Rex Ryan feels about not signing Revis & now DRC? "Why do you ask a question you already know the answer to?" #nyj

Woody Johnson employees not named Idzik are not happy with Idzik. One just told me Idzik "operates on his own time & schedule. Unbelievable"

Friend of Rex Ryan chimes in on news Jets couldn't land Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (or any legit CB in free agency): "Rex is pissed." #nyj

Maybe Idzik thinks the team will be able to address the need in the draft. Then again, it’s not like he’s drafted too well at corner. Last year’s first-round pick Dee Milliner was benched at times during the season.
Failing to sign Rodgers-Cromartie could also lead the team to bring back Antonio Cromartie, who was released earlier this month.
