Richard Sherman defends Josh Allen over old tweets

Richard Sherman

Josh Allen is probably going to have to explain some of his years-old social media activity to whichever NFL team drafts him on Thursday night, but one of the most outspoken veterans in the league feels the conversation does not need to be a long one.

Some vulgar tweets that were sent by Allen years ago went viral on Wednesday night, and there have been questions about whether or not the content of them will impact his draft stock. Richard Sherman sees no reason why it should.

Some of the tweets were racist in nature and contained the N-word, and one NFL front office member from a team that is set to draft in the top five believes that will be the biggest issue.

The tweets, which have since but deleted but you can read here, were written when Allen was in high school and had not yet enrolled at Wyoming. There have been no red flags surrounding his character, so it seems unlikely that some boneheaded comments Allen made when he was 17 will impact his draft stock. At the very least, they were a distraction that could have been avoided if he cleaned up or deactivated his social media accounts.
