Roddy White says he is not mad over his lack of catches

Roddy White is trying to remain a team player while admitting frustration over his role in the Atlanta Falcons’ offense.

White, who is the franchise’s all-time leading receiver, only has six catches and 92 yards this season for the 4-0 Falcons. Though he is happy about his team’s success, he told ESPN he was frustrated with his role.

“For me, at the end of the day, I want to catch passes,” White told ESPN.com in an article published Tuesday. “I’m not out here just f—ing around just to sit around to just block f—ing people all day. It’s not what I want to do.

“I’ve contributed to offenses for this franchise for the last nine, 10 years. It always bothers me when I go out and don’t catch any balls in a game because it hasn’t happened in so long.”

For now the Falcons are supporting White and saying that his mindset is a good one to have.

White is also trying to ensure people do not think he is disgruntled. He told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he just wants to win.

“This is nothing to get mad over,” White said. “I can’t control no plays that are being called in the huddle. All I can do is run the routes I’m supposed to run on the play and do my job. That’s all I can do.”

White is confident balls will begin to come his way. He recognizes that he is the third option in the passing offense, which means it takes longer for Matt Ryan to look his way.

White is 34 now and had years as the team’s primary option. It was only a matter of time before the team started to change its receiver pecking order. Just few expected it to happen so quickly after White posted 80 catches for 921 yards and seven touchdowns last season.
