Ryan Tannehill says report about MCL injury is incorrect
Ryan Tannehill said after Saturday’s Dolphins game that a report about the extent of his MCL injury is inaccurate.
NFL Network reported during the Dolphins-Jets game that Tannehill tore his MCL from the bone when he suffered a knee injury against the Cardinals in Week 14. But Tannehill says that is not the case.

Ryan Tannehill says MCL is not a grade 3 sprain but a grade 2 sprain. And so the MCL is still at least partially attached.

A previous report by Pro Football Talk said Tannehill had a Grade 2 MCL sprain, and that appears to be correct. They also reported that the Dolphins quarterback has a partially torn ACL.
According to PFT, Tannehill’s MCL injury can heal on its own, while the ACL may eventually need to be repaired with surgery. The Dolphins are unsure if/when Tannehill will be able to return.
So far things are going well with backup Matt Moore, who led the team to victory against the Jets and helped them beat the Cardinals after Tannehill’s exit. Miami is now 9-5.
