Steve Wilks, Steve Spagnuolo in mix to be Browns defensive coordinator
New Cleveland Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens is looking to fill out his staff and has some people in mind for both sides of the ball.
Steve Wilks, who was fired after one season as the Arizona Cardinals’ head coach, interviewed for the Browns defensive coordinator job on Friday, according to reports. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport adds that former Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo is in the mix for the job.
While the #Browns have former #AZCardinals coach Steve Wilks in to interview for their vacant DC job, they’ve also been calling around to people who’ve worked with and know well former #Giants DC Steve Spagnuolo. They could bring him in over the weekend.

On the offensive side, the Browns have interviewed former Lions offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter. They also reportedly have interest in Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Todd Monken and former Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano. Pagano is said to be in the mix for multiple jobs.
Finding the right head coach for a job is key, as is making strong staff hires.
