The 2025 NFL Draft is not viewed as being loaded with franchise-altering talent, but there are reportedly multiple teams that want to move up the board for one specific player.
The Cleveland Browns, New York Giants and New England Patriots have the Nos. 2, 3, and 4 picks, respectively, in the first round on Thursday night. There have been reports that all of those teams have received calls from rivals who have interest in moving up the board.
According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the majority of teams that have interest in trading up want to draft Travis Hunter.
Hunter was a two-way star at Colorado and won the Heisman Trophy last season. He had 96 catches for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns. Hunter also had 35 total tackles, 4 interceptions and a forced fumble defensively.
Hunter has been adamant about wanting to remain a two-way player in the NFL, but teams will likely want him to focus on one position. He is heavily favored to be selected No. 2 overall by the Browns, but it is possible that another team could blow Cleveland away with an offer.
With former Miami quarterback Cam Ward a virtual lock to be taken first overall by the Tennessee Titans, Hunter and pass-rusher Abdul Carter are viewed as the two biggest game-changers remaining in the draft. Based on what Russini reported, it sounds like teams are more eager to have Hunter on their rosters.
There has also been talk that teams are interested in trying to trade into the top five for a more surprising player.
The most likely scenario remains that the Browns will draft Hunter, and they have said they view him as a wide receiver. But if they feel they can improve their roster by adding additional picks via a team that is more desperate to land the former Colorado star, a trade might make sense.
