Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins remains in a contract standoff with the team, and he may have sent a new message via social media on Thursday.

Higgins posted some pictures of himself on Instagram, including a few of him working out. That alone was not notable, but the caption he used was.

“I tell em no, they can’t wait to call me selfish…” Higgins wrote.

Higgins has requested a trade from the Bengals amid frustration over a lack of a long-term contract. The wide receiver was given the franchise tag at the start of the offseason and is not happy with it, as he has been notably absent from offseason activities. The implication is that the lack of a new contract might have people labeling him selfish, even though he is simply looking out for himself.

The veteran wide receiver has made clear he wants to stay with Cincinnati and even suggested he would be playing there this year one way or another even after asking for a trade. There might be some doubts about that as the standoff continues, especially since other wide receivers are getting new contracts that are only going to make Higgins look more valuable.
