TJ Ward open to Broncos signing Johnny Manziel
The #BringMoneyManzielToDenver movement is gaining some real steam.
TMZ Sports caught up with Broncos safety TJ Ward in Los Angeles on Saturday night, with the two-time Pro Bowler saying that he would welcome much-maligned signal caller Johnny Manziel to the team with “open arms.”
Rumors linking 23-year-old Manziel to Denver have picked up serious traction in recent days with the team reportedly reaching out to the former Heisman winner. Meanwhile, Super Bowl MVP (and apparently new Manziel roommate) Von Miller has expressed his desire to see Johnny Football in a Broncos uniform.
The reigning Super Bowl champs have been on the prowl for a quarterback after Peyton Manning’s retirement and Brock Osweiler’s signing with the Houston Texans. Denver already sniffed around Colin Kaepernick before a deal with the 49ers fell apart. Newly-signed quarterback Mark Sanchez also remains confident that he can win the starting job.
But if Manziel is already winning the support of the Broncos locker room this quickly, perhaps it’s only a matter of time before a deal gets done.
