Tom Brady still seems a bit wistful about his transition from a playing career to broadcasting.
The former quarterback made the admission in an appearance on the “Let’s Go!” podcast. He made clear he is enjoying broadcasting, but did not hide the fact that he would rather be playing in games.
“It’s been really fun to sit and watch these games from the 50-yard line,” Brady said, via Ben Axelrod of Awful Announcing. “Although I’d much prefer to be on the field playing because it’s a lot more fun down there. But I’m not doing that anymore. But just watching from above and seeing how these guys are performing is pretty cool.”
Any comment like this from Brady is likely to touch off a new set of comeback rumors. The flipside of that is Brady is now a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, and NFL rules prohibit players from owning equity in franchises. He is already facing restrictions in his broadcasting career as a result of that, and he would have to outright sell to even consider a comeback as a player.
The 47-year-old Brady is finished playing and he knows it. There is no question he misses it, but his involvement with the Raiders closed the door on that chapter and he knew that going in.
