Report: Tom Cable will be considered for Colts job

December 30, 2017 by Grey Papke • Comments

The Indianapolis Colts haven’t even fired coach Chuck Pagano yet, but it sounds like a list of potential replacements is already being drawn up.

According to Mike Silver of NFL.com, if Pagano is fired as expected, Seattle Seahawks offensive line coach Tom Cable will be a candidate for the position.

If there is an opening in Indy (as expected), I'm told Seahawks OL coach Tom Cable will get serious consideration

— Michael Silver (@MikeSilver) December 30, 2017

Cable spent parts of three seasons as head coach of the Oakland Raiders, going 17-27 and failing to make a playoff appearance. He has been an assistant with the Seahawks since 2011, where he has had some rather unconventional takes about what puts pressure on his players.

Pagano’s firing is pretty much a formality at this point. Cable will likely be one of a number of candidates for the opening once it does happen.
