When it comes to the most scrutinized players in the NFL, there aren’t many who are put under the microscope more than Tony Romo.
Playing quarterback in the NFL contributes to it, so does doing so for the Dallas Cowboys. It doesn’t help that Romo has been trying to succeed recently with a bad back that required surgery to repair a herniated disk last December.
Golf is a sport Romo has been known to enjoy and participate in, particularly during the offseason. That’s now a thing of the past.

It’s been over a year since the three-time Pro Bowler grabbed the clubs and hit a few down the fairway as a return to health is of utmost importance to Romo.
“Sometimes you put yourself in a tough position when coming off a surgery,” Romo said via The Dallas Morning News. “That’s why we have a pitch count with me throwing and why we do it that way.”
“You’ve got to get yourself healthy then figure out where you’re at and go from there for everything,’’ Romo said. “It’s not just golf. It’s a way you live life.
“I don’t think about it as [giving up] golf. It’s just life. You want to give yourself the best chance to succeed on the football field.”
The Cowboys have finished 8-8 each the past three seasons and last made the playoffs in 2009. Obviously, their chances of making a return trip to the postseason in 2014 significantly decrease if Romo isn’t in the lineup, for whatever reason. It goes without saying, the more Romo can do to ensure he’s healthy, under center, and playing well on Sundays bodes well for both he and the Cowboys.
