There has been talk that the Los Angeles Rams could look to trade Matthew Stafford if the two sides cannot agree to another contract restructure, and a surprising team is favored to land the veteran quarterback should that happen.
Stafford has no guaranteed money remaining on his contract and is set to make just $23 million in 2025. While the Rams supposedly remain committed to him, the 37-year-old will almost certainly want a raise and/or a stronger guarantee before the start of next year.
On Thursday, SportsBetting.ag released odds on Stafford’s future. The sportsbook lists the Minnesota Vikings as the favorite to acquire Stafford in a potential trade.

Here are the odds for the teams that are listed at 12/1 or better:
Minnesota Vikings 3/1, New York Giants 4/1, Las Vegas Raiders 5/1, Indianapolis Colts 6/1, New York Jets 8/1, Pittsburgh Steelers 9/1, Jacksonville Jaguars 10/1, Dallas Cowboys 12/1, New Orleans Saints 12/1
Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell was the offensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams before he was hired by Minnesota. Stafford had his best season as a pro when O’Connell was the OC in L.A. back in 2021, which is the year the Rams won the Super Bowl. Stafford threw for 4,886 yards and 41 touchdowns that season.
The Vikings have an uncertain QB situation of their own with Sam Darnold set to become a free agent. They also drafted JJ McCarthy in the first round last year, though the former Michigan star is recovering from a torn ACL.
If the Vikings felt McCarthy needed more time to develop, it would probably make more sense for them to use the franchise tag on Darnold. Stafford would cost just as much money, and the Rams reportedly plan to attach a high asking price to him in the event that the two sides part ways.
The most likely outcome is that Stafford remains with the Rams, especially after he was solid again this season and led the team to the playoffs.
