Wes Welker responded to a question about Tom Brady’s nose in a way only he can. Asked if he still considers Brady a “handsome man” despite the nose injury, Welker got off a pretty funny line.
“Yeah, he’s such a good-looking guy,” Welker joked, per Patriots.com. “Obviously he gets banged up. He’s probably the toughest metrosexual I’ve ever come across,” he said to much laughter.
Though Welker was making a joke of it, he did say that Brady shrugging off injuries is inspirational.
“Any time you see your leader going out there and taking hits like that and everything else, you ask him if it’s broken, he doesn’t know and he doesn’t care. He loves football and he loves playing, and he does a great job.”
We have to agree with Wes. Brady is a pretty tough dude for someone who sports faux-hawks and ponytails, and wears Ugg boots. Of course, a few more comments like that and Welker might see even fewer balls thrown his way the rest of the season.
Welker only played 43 of 67 (64%) of the team’s snaps on Sunday and was targeted just five times, which is down dramatically from the 89.2% of snaps he played last year. This could be the beginning of the Pats phasing out Welker, our it could have just been a one-game fluke.
