It wasn’t too long ago that Rory McIlroy seemed to be very happy in a relationship with Caroline Wozniacki. The two were all over each other’s social media accounts, and the scent of young love was in the air. But after they got engaged and began planning the wedding, Rory freaked out and abruptly called off the relationship in a phone call that stunned Woz. That was in 2014.
A year and a half later, McIlroy is dating someone else and seems to be very happy.
McIlroy’s new girlfriend is Erica Stoll, a PGA Tour employee who first came to his rescue at the 2012 Ryder Cup. They have been dating for over a year.
Friends told the Belfast Telegraph that McIlroy has found “the one” and that there could be an engagement on the horizon. They say he could pop the question soon and that both he and his family like
“She’s a really, really nice girl,” a source told the Telegraph. “Very nice and down to earth and the one thing everyone is saying is how good she is for Rory. I wouldn’t be surprised if they do tie the knot. You know the saying ‘when you know – you know’ [you’ve met the right person] and I think Rory is there now.”
Unlike his relationship with Wozniacki where they were constantly posting photos and more to their social media accounts, McIlroy has been keeping things private with Stoll. However, he did go public with her in Dubai last week.

McIlroy is said to be “head over heals” for Stoll. He likes that she is supportive of his career, already has a passion for golf, and brings very little drama to the relationship.
McIlroy didn’t enjoy quite the same success in 2015 that he had in 2014 or 2012, but he did win four events this year, and that is very respectable. Maybe Stoll is a good influence on him.
