The Sacramento Kings appear to be putting their full trust in general manager Vlade Divac, and that may result in the team searching for a new head coach before long.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Divac is giving serious consideration to firing Kings coach Dave Joerger. The two are set to meet on Friday. Wojnarowski notes that the move could come as Divac looks to “consolidate his power” within the Kings organization.
Vlade Divac is pushing to consolidate his power as Kings top basketball executive, seriously weighing dismissal of coach Dave Joerger, league sources tell ESPN. Divac/Joerger set for meeting today. Joerger led Kings young core to a 39 win season. He has a year left on deal.

Joerger led the Kings to 39 wins this season, which is the most in his three years with the team. However, Sacramento missed the playoffs for the 13th straight season.
The Kings announced on Friday that they have signed Divac to an extension through the 2022-23 season, and it’s possible giving him more control is part of the new deal. If you remember, Divac confirmed earlier this year that he told the Kings owners to stop meddling in basketball matters.
