Blues’ Dylan Holloway leaves game in stretcher after puck hit his neck
St. Louis Blues forward Dylan Holloway was struck in the neck by a puck and had to be stretchered out of Tuesday’s game between the Blues and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Lightning forward Nicholas Paul inadvertently hit Holloway as the former was taking a shot at goal at the 2:37 mark of the first period at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Mo. Holloway was somehow initially able to shrug off the blow and skated the other way for a scoring chance before the end of his shift. But once Holloway returned to the bench, he immediately started showing signs of discomfort.

Play was stopped with 1:11 left in the first period as Holloway received medical attention. Once medical personnel were able to stabilize Holloway’s neck, he was placed on a stretcher and brought to the locker room. He was later transported to a nearby hospital.
Holloway is reportedly expected to recover without issue. His airway is “open and unobstructed” with no swelling in his neck area.
