Brad Marchand fires back at Canadiens for throwing shade over licking antics
The Boston Bruins saw their season end on Sunday with a loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning, and many people are happy to rub that in Brad Marchand’s face after the way he acted throughout the playoffs. Marchand had to have expected that, but he doesn’t want to hear it from his team’s biggest rival.
On Monday, the official Twitter account of the Montreal Canadiens made a not-so-subtle reference to Marchand licking opponents during games.
Sans nommer personne, on rappelle qu'il est déconseillé de licher sur un terrain de golf également.
Without naming names, just a reminder that licking is frowned upon on the golf course as well.https://t.co/UOYGLsr013

Marchand, who has not tweeted much recently, wasn’t about to let that slide. He quickly reminded the Canadiens that they missed the postseason this year and had one of their worst seasons in a while.
Funny…throwing shade when you were out of the playoff race since October

Marchand lives for getting under the skin of his opponents, and for whatever reason licking them in the face has become one of his favorite tactics. The last player he did it to said he hoped the NFL would look into it, but the act is so unprecedented that the league probably doesn’t know how to handle it.
In any event, players remaining in the playoffs this year must be relieved that they don’t have to worry about having another grown man lick their face during a hockey game.
