Report: Patrick Kane accuser no longer willing to cooperate with investigation

Patrick-Kane

The Patrick Kane sexual assault investigation seemingly fell apart over a month ago when the alleged victim’s mother created an elaborate scheme to make it seem like the rape kit had been tampered with. Now, the accuser reportedly does not want to continue to cooperate with the investigation.

According to The Buffalo News, the woman who accused Kane of rape has informed the Erie County District Attorney’s Office that she does not want to proceed with working with investigators because the public nature of the case has caused “tremendous stress” for her and her family. The alleged victim reportedly spoke with investigators for a long time last week before signing an “affidavit declining prosecution.”

District Attorney Frank Sedita still gets to determine whether the case should proceed, but The Buffalo News reported over the weekend that it is highly unlikely that criminal charges will be filed against Kane. There are reportedly too many inconsistencies with testimony and questions surrounding the incident to make a case against the Chicago Blackhawks star.

The incident with the rape kit, which resulted in the accuser’s attorney quitting the case, was one of the most unusual things you will ever see in a sexual assault case. Kane has had to listen to some nasty chants from fans this season, but it is starting to look like he will avoid legal trouble.
