
16-year-old Canadian swimmer Penny Oleksiak won gold in the 100m freestyle on Thursday night in Rio, but it took her a while to find out.
Oleksiak, who had a dead heat with American Simone Manuel, was so nervous after her finish that she refused to check the scoreboard. When she finally did, she realized she had tied for first, giving her the gold medal:
